Since 2011 Discover Georgia has started a training course for tourism trainees in order to improve their skills in tourism and teach practical knowledge to maximize career opportunities in this rapidly expending industry.
Since 2014 a memorandum of understanding was signed between Discover Georgia and Georgian National University SEU and together started a new project called ‘’Professional Development for Students’’.
‘’Discover Georgia’’ staff carry out the training session on practical issues which are the most realistic activities for a travel company.
The memorandum of understanding was also signed with LEPL National Center for Teacher Professional Development, International Black Sea University, David Agmashenebeli University of Georgia and LEPL's Community College ‘’MERMISI”.
The main activities during the studying process in tourism direction:
Official correspondence (official letters)
Planning tours and arranging itineraries
Preparing tourist/visitor information
Maintaining financial records
Budgeting the tours
Air tickets reservation
Developing Discover Georgia web page
Social Media Marketing
Formal correspondence/communication with customers and partners
Upon completion of these programs students will have gained necessary practical knowledge and skills required to pursue in the travel and tourism industry and to maximize career opportunities in this expending industry. This program will particularly suit those individuals who seek a job in this field.
